Welcome to 4-H in Tompkins County!  All youth activities offered by Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension fall under the 4-H umbrella, whether they happen after school, in the summer, or as a workshop, club, camp, or special event.  4-H programs are offered in a wide variety of formats and places because they're designed to fit the interests and needs of the diverse young people who live in our rural and urban communities.

Cornell Cooperative Extension has educational workshops, applied research projects, and lots of useful  information on food-related subjects from food safety and nutrition to healthy eating on a limited budget.

Family, in all its diverse forms, is the heart and backbone of a healthy society. Our mission is to improve the well-being of the family through strength-based programs that educate, influence public policy, and help families put evidence-based information to work in their lives.

Making choices that save energy -- in your home, business or community -- can have a positive impact on the environment while also saving you money.  In this section of our website, CCE-Tompkins has compiled resources that can help you learn about ways you can reduce energy consumption and use energy resources more efficiently. For more basic information on what energy is, where it comes from, and how we use it visit:Energy Explained  (US Energy Information Administration).

Communities are defined in many different ways by the diverse people who belong to them.  Here at CCE-Tompkins, we work with communities of all kinds and configurations, providing training, resources and faciltiation to help individuals, groups and municipalities identify the issues that are most important to them, to envision potential strategies and solutions, and to organize and take action for change.

CCE-Tompkins is unique among local organizations in offering a continuum of education and resources that  enable it to address a food systems issues in a holistic way.  By working at a food-system level, we can more effectively respond to cross-cutting needs such as food safety, food access, local agriculture and community infrastructure. We offer resources for farmers, and consumers, to help strengthen our local and regional food systems.
